Kayaking

Today, my coursemates (around 30 of them) went for kayaking in the pond near UTM gate. The water looks very dirty, but it doesn't smell bad (expected to be very smelly!). It was still raining when we reach the place. I thought it might be cancelled because it was raining in the whole afternoon. The first thing we did was to take the paddles from a store room near the guard house. The instructor gave brief instructions on how to paddle and taught us how to warm up. Then, we was asked to pulled our own canoe from the rack to the water. My girlfriend was with me, in the same canoe. The instructors was quite friendly, and even try to organise a simple competition for us. For them in UTM who haven't try it, should really go and have fun with your friends. It costs less than RM4.00 per person.

Kota Tinggi Waterfall

Heard of "Kota Tinggi" for a long time but still never actually plan to go there for almost four years in UTM. Finally, in my final few days here, we actually get a chance to go there. Yesterday, we bought some bread and tuna as our lunch for this trip. After pack everything into my car, we started our journey at around 12:30pm. It took more than an hour for us the reach there. It was around 1:40pm when we reach there. The first thing we saw was the ticket counter. I didn't expect to pay any money there! The car park ticket was RM4.00 and each of us still have to pay RM2.50 for entrance fee. It is really expensive. However, this means that place has really been commercialised and being taken care by some authorities. As we walk along the river, we saw few bathrooms, food canteens, burger stall and also safe guards! We walked to the end of the walking path and we saw a nice view of the waterfall. Then we changed to swimming outfits and play in the water for few hours at the same time, enjoying the tuna sandwiches and snacks. We left the place at around 5:30pm. It was a good place to visit for those who like nature.

First Test Over

My first exam paper is Creative and Critical Thinking. Spent 2 days preparing for it but still didn't actually know how to do. To get 'A' for this subject, I need to score 30 out of 40 objective questions. Hopefully I'm in luck for it. My next paper will be on 29th March. Still don't know what to do in these few days. Actually I planned to go Sabah with my brothers' friends to visit my brother. They are leaving for Kota Kinabalu tomorrow. So sad my test hasn't over yet. Maybe will plan again next year! I want to climb Mt Kinabalu!

XPC (Expert System)

We, my groupmates (Robert, Yi Yang and Chee Kuan) has developed an expert system titled "Expert System on Assembling a Personal Computer" with code name "XPC". This is a coursework for the subject Expert System. The system focuses mainly on how to choose computer components to assembly a personal computer. However, it's not for those computer geeks who knows everything, it is intended for them who don't know anything about computers. Although it is not a full system, but it's something that we designed everything on our own to implement expert system inference techniques in the system. We just came back from presenting the system and the lecturer is impressed with the system and a poster for the system. I think this will be the last project for my 4 years degree. Glad I've made it this far. The next final thing would be the final exam. But.. got to catch some sleep first!

Final Project

My final project is on "Stock Market Prediction using Kohonen Network". Although Kohonen network is not a new approach, it is seldom being applied in forecasting stock market returns. Moreover, I did it for Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE). After 1 year of work and one final presentation in the past week, my project has come to an end. I just came back from faculty to meet my examiner to discuss about corrections to be made to my report. Glad to know that no major correction to be made.

LISP

After working hard doing LISP programming for few days, the project is going to finish soon. Each of us are required to come up with a different type of database system. I developed a small friend information database system. Allegro CL (tool I'm using) has lots of bug which made the development process very tough. Spend most of the time debugging for the unknown problems. If I were using other development tools, I would be sleeping now!

This blog is created on this day. Will I be continously updating this blog? No idea. At this moment, I'm going to finish my final semester in UTM soon. Just handed up my final project few days ago. Waiting for final exams. Hopefully it's not going to be a tough one.
